JOURNAL #5
Obviously, Vancouver is a foreign city for me, which is in a English spoken country-Canada.For one thing, I'm almost steeped in a atmosphere with English.(there are many Chinese in Vancouver so that I mostly hear Chinese) I gain improvement of my listening English, because I consecrate to listen to my teachers' instruction in classes. While in China, if I want to progress my listening English, I will listen to the tapes or watch English TV programme which is not a efficiency way, because I didn't in a English circumstance to. On other words, I can practice my spoken English in this city. when I go shopping, I frequently choose to speak English to the sells even if I know he or she can speak Chinese. Although I speak slowly, they are still friendly to get my whole sentence. In case I can't catch their words and ask them to repeat the sentence, they usually take pleasure in repetition. In China, I had to practice conversations which are in textbooks to train my linguistics tone. I think it is a silly method to advance my tongue. In berif, I expect I will smoothly communicate with native people.

JOURNAL #4
From my junior high school, I have always done well in my writing in Chinese. My articles were taken as model essays by Chinese teacher to read out to the whole class. The more time the teacher appreciated, the better I did my essays. I am proud of and enjoy my writing in Chinese. Usually, I document my day-life impression about an experience, a book, a movie, or a people in my blog. It is a record of my growth process. Once I review these records one day, it will remind me of precious memories.
But now it is my English era, I must focus on my writing in English. Actually, I’m not good at skill of English writing, such as grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, so that it’s difficult to correctly express my thought. Grammar which makes readers clarify what writers convey is the basic of a sentence. I still make some mistakes in some details. It is not allowed to occur in academic writing which is conscientious and careful. Vocabulary can make the whole article vivid, especially adjective words which exactly describe the features of something. Sentence structure can make the article complex.
It better looks like a academic essay with different sentence structure. During the ELI study, I had have to practice and practice, again and again under the guidance of my teacher. She teaches sorts of skills to put in use, so that I achieve progress in my English writing.
Maybe soon after several months or a year, I can document my thoughts in English and share my emotion to my foreign friends.

JOURNAL #3 (television and radio)
My major is television and radio journalism , so I chose the topic which is about the difference between television and radio to discuss. To be the first electronic media of human being's invention , radio became a great revolution of the history of communication medias. In 1950s , television was the new favourite mass media to instead of radio because of its audio-visual integration. The obvious difference is the use of audio and visual. Radio spreads information just through voice , while television supplies people audio and visual at the same time. To constant television , broadcast can be used everywhere, so that people can listen to the radio with walking, driving and taking the bus. It's convenient for people who are outside. But if someone would like to watch TV programmes , they should stay at home or other places where have television. In terms of kinds of programmes , television has more types of programmes , such as teleplays , movies , and news. Radio bases on the principle of music , news and features. Television and radio are different medias to spread information to people, people can choose any one in different situation with their particular.

JOURNAL #2 (two of my friends)
I have been in Vancouver for more than one month, and I make some friends in this city. But frankly, I always miss my friends who are in China. Two of them are my best friends, Yang and Yi, who are working in China now. We connect through MSN which is the cheapest way for us to communicate. They usually ask whether I get along well with living in Vancouver or talk about their interesting, boring, or hard work. I told them some current situation, such as, Vancouver is a beautiful city which I like it very much, I moved in a new house from my home stay which was far away from UBC. They sometimes complained that it was difficult for a social freshman to adjust this complex society, and they had to do their best to base themselves in the society. We had graduated from university and had been no longer children or teenagers. Looking back to the past, we recognize each other when we were freshmen at the university and coexist the four-year university's life. We majored in the same subject and the same class, even more we lived in the same dormitory. We went together to classroom and got off classes everyday. After class, we went to the canteen to enjoy our lunches or dinners. In spare time, we went to the city center to go shopping. We were always together. Although I am distant from them, I miss them all the time. Maybe I will go back to China on my vocation, and then I could meet them again. The most importance is that they are my best friends in my life.

Journal # 1 (My First Unqiue Experince in Vancouver)
Yesterday , I went to the downtown area to apply IELTS text by myself . Actually,my friend and I had decided to apply together after Friday's workshop. Unfortunately , she had to take part in the academic course of IGSPP which was over at 4 o'clock . So I must to go there by myself for our application . It was my first time to go outside alone in Vancouver , so I felt a little bit fearful . Unluckily , I got lost my way to that place, because I got off the incorrect bus stop. As a result , I couldn't find the direction in the downtown . I had to ask strangers for the right way . By my good luck , they were so nice . Finally , I had found my route to that building and caught up with the application before the staffs went off duty .
